He has managed in excess of 100 software asset management (SAM) projects for some of the largest companies in the world helping them prepare for vendor audits, true-ups, EA renewals and ULA exits. He has also helped clients negotiating substantial reductions or avoiding unexpected costs in the millions of dollars.

The ITAM SIG is a free group for members* to meet and discuss the challenges of IT Asset Management.
The group is led by Piaras MacDonnell, a highly experienced ITAM specialist who is very familiar with the challenges faced by ITAM managers and administrators.
IT Asset Management is a very specialised area of IT with most organisations having only one or two people whose role it is to manage this area. This means for most ITAM specialists there are very few internal resources to share ideas on how to optimise software licensing, hardware management, BYOD issues and ITAM optimisation.
The group is largely made up of itSMF Ireland members but welcomes both developers and those on the operations side of IT service management.
